The decision to embark on a capital and endowment campaign is one of the most important that a nonprofit organization can make. Nothing increases an institution’s visibility, expands its market, draws major philanthropy to its cause, or lays the groundwork for future financial support better than a well-run campaign. The Bentz Group specializes in campaign management – we tailor our efforts to meet the needs of each organization.
 
Full-Time or Part-Time Campaign Direction
Most of our clients opt for a full-time Bentz resident director who handles all aspects of the campaign process. Working closely with an organization’s staff and volunteers, our directors are experts in organizing and facilitating campaigns. Should an organization prefer, campaign direction can be provided on a periodic basis.
 
Determining a Campaign Strategy and Creating a Plan
The results of the Bentz Group’s Campaign Readiness Assessment or Leadership Briefing Sessions allow us to determine the optimal strategy for moving forward. Included in our step-by-step campaign plans are:
 
  • Detailed timeline
  • Organizational structure and volunteer job descriptions
  • Named giving opportunities
  • Gift chart to show the range and number of gifts needed to reach goal
Implementing the Campaign
In addition to keeping a campaign on task and on budget, our campaign directors ensure that the campaign is the top priority for management and the board. On a day-to-day basis, the campaign director will:
 
  • Set up the campaign office
  • Recruit and train volunteer leadership
  • Oversee the creation of a distinctive brand identity and the production of campaign literature
  • Provide prospect research
  • Assist staff and volunteers with major gift (and board) solicitations
  • Coach volunteers for specific solicitations
  • Research and write foundation proposals
  • Organize cultivation events
  • Host regular report meetings to track progress and invigorate volunteers
  • Work with staff to garner community (or regional) visibility for the campaign
  • Write campaign newsletters and handle all communication needs
  • Create a donor recognition system
